   Can he do it from a religious perspective? Only if she's entered puberty and therefore is pubescent. Can he actually get a bride that young? The answer is no. Because parents want to wait until their daughter is 18. There are exceptions, of course, but the bride-to-be in that case is usually a peer, so there's no concerning age gap. I use the adverb "concerning" because if a 18 year old marries an 90 year old then sooner than later, he will die of a natural death while she will be a widow at 20 years old and that is a bad situation to be in and should be avoided.

   Also, I am Islamic and we do not technically have an age of consent. For us, a 16 year old marrying a 39 year old is far, far better than a 26 year old doing a porn scene. The former situation, in our eyes, is a noble thing but the second is degenerate and deserves punishment. We don't have problems with a 16 year old or another teenager marrying an older person, though I do think that it should be avoided, not because they are "children" but because the larger the age gap, the sooner one of the partner dies of old age which leaves the partner who's alive lonely. And that's a bad thing.

    I am a woman and have a degree in pedagogy. I have studied children's and teenager's brain development for that sake. I KNOW that a 16 year old has nowhere near the maturity of an 18 year old. And I also see 18 year olds being approached by older men critically because from age 15 to 28 the brain development of teenagers and young adults makes huuuge jumps. The ten years between 16 and 26 are not even comparable to the ten years between 31 and 41. And you know that. You belong into the group of people who are prdators who are even trying to justify the sick abse they are into.

    
    That's funny, because I've also studied pedagogy and the literature says that females mature faster than males do. Not physically but mentally. So her argument is quite poor if she uses phrases like "a 16 year old has nowhere near the maturity of an 18 year old," it's nothing but an attempt to infantilize teenagers. She also fails to acknowledge that they are in the same developmental group so this "massive difference" she is alluding to is not even right. Of course, I'm talking about this from a context outside of a sexual P.O.V., but you get my point.
