2017-03-11 at 1:25 AM UTC in How many people here are actually religious? If you WANT to believe in the scripture you can certainly do it. It's not like there aren't millions of people who claim to be Christians. You can make very convincing arguments for its interpretation and all that, but at the end of the day there is a greater logic that supersedes and supposed logic that comes from making sense of the teachings of the Bible. To put it more simply, Dr. Suess has some awesome life teachings but there's no reason to believe he's some great creator of all things, and if he claimed it, we would dismiss him.

2017-03-11 at 12:32 AM UTC in How many people here are actually religious?Extremists are the only "religious" folk that I can at least respect. Those who don't pick and choose which part of their holy book they wish to adhere to but instead adhere to it all strictly. If you're gonna believe in a deity you ought to believe wholeheartedly rather than riding the fence and believing only as it serves a beneficial purpose to you.

2017-03-08 at 1 AM UTC in Is there any proof that Russia was behind the email hacking?
Originally posted by SBTlauien What I read is that a certain cyber security firm that would only benefit greatly by saying that this particular hack by Russia happened, said that it happened but wasn't able to provide any proof what-so-ever.
I think it would have exploded by now if it did actually happen.
sort of. I read the initial crowdstrike report from when the DNC servers got owned; they basically said that the techniques, attack vector and VPN/VPS service the attacks were staged from were consistent with another group (FancyBears) that they believe to be FSB/GRU. FancyBears have never been proven to have government ties and have denied it publicly.
In short - the attack was similar to an attack mounted by a group they believe to be linked to the Russian government without any factual basis. This was the initial report that the 'Russian involvement' story was based on.
I said at the time that it seemed to me that there was a definite trend of security companies attributing attacks to 'state actors' based on weak or no evidence - a sort of way to deflect their own failures; they try to give the impression that 'it's not our fault, how are we supposed to stop an adversary with so much training and funding?' to stop their clients from dropping them. -
2017-03-08 at 12:57 AM UTC in BREAKING: CIA turned every Microsoft Windows PC in the world into spyware. Can activate backdoors on demand, including via Windows updateThe thing I find the most retarded about this, are the people that seem to be surprised that this can all happen. I mean, it's been known for a very long time that government agencies practice digital spying by using any electronic devices available.
It's always good practice to know your devices and physically disable things you won't need(camera, mic, Bluetooth, wifi, NFC, even speakers). Most people don't need to worry though, they are nobody's, and don't exist in the eyes of these government agencies. But some need to know certain rules... -

This. Well further actually, many people argue you should assume all your source is available to an attacker, trying to hide implementation in the name of security is called security through obscurity, which is sorta kinda mostly considered a bad practice but not always. Sorta.
Javascript files are always served to the client, there is no way to avoid disclosing their contents. You can minify source which makes it harder to read, like we do here: http://niggasin.space/static/js/thread.7b8b50ef9cb5.js but you can mostly reverse the process and it's not _that_ hard to read, sometimes bad things happen to good people you end up needing to debug minified code. Minification is primarily used to bring transfer sizes down and also to feel 1337.
Also when we talk about "page source" we're usually referring to the HTML document that backs a page (which is what you see when you use your browser's "view source" control). The primary function of a browser is to render a document, that is transform it from source to something on you screen, so for every document there's a visual representation and a source representation. Javascript doesn't have the same duality. You can execute a javascript file but the effects of that are only visible through altering an HTML document somehow, there is no real visual representation of a javascript file other than its source, so that's why following the url to a javascript document will (unless there's some server side fuckery involved) display its contents. -
