there ARE good doctors out there, but they are few and far between, because a good doctor is born, not made, can't be trained or recreated by education, just like a scientist. and the few that actually go into the medical field work for the wealthy.

i'm just trying to offer some realistic advice based on the information available to me. this is a known problem on those engines. most service advisers he talked to at a shop would just tell him to do the service, but unfortunately you have to factor in the value of the car itself against such a major repair.
something i forgot to mention is that while a shop or dealer may be 100% unwilling to ever do this... maybe you can just pound the old reluctor back into place if you do that chain yourself. MAYBE. it's possible. -

Enjoy your Trumpbuxyou could be looking at a new engine, if that crankshaft is fucked. if you don't think you can pull the motor and do it yourself, which considering the tools you'd have to buy unless you're already equipped might not even save you much money, you might be better off just driving it till it dies, depending on what the car is worth, and other financial considerations. i don't think you really know if the reluctor has moved until you get the timing cover off... which means you don't know if you just need a new chain and guides, or a whole crankshaft and gear rebuild, until you're balls deep in it.
you might want to see if it can possibly come out the top/front with a hoist if you remove the hood and front clip. you'd have to put blocks of wood or a jackstand under the transmission and seperate it in place, so you'd at the bare minimum have to get some big ass stands to put the car on so you can slide up under it to work. without a lift and a full pro tool cart and air tools, it will be a huge undertaking. make sure a woman is watching so you get your moneys worth. you can definitely do the timing chain with the motor halfway out, but not the crank if the reluctor moved. i'm guessing that the MIL logic sets the code when the waveform on the crank hall sensor starts changing shape indicating the chain is loose and the teeth are not quite in position. -

Enjoy your Trumpbuxyeah, after looking at pictures online, i'm pretty certain that has to come out the bottom and you'd need a lift. you might be able to get it out the front if you took the entire front clip off (radiator, front bumper, fascia, etc) and had a little truck dolley jack thing . you better let a shop do that. it wouldn't be impossible i guess, i've pulled a motor with a fucking rope over a tree branch i parked the car under, but i don't think it's happening.
