   It is somewhat backwards appearing on the surface, to pander to fringe and minority groups within a system that is ostensibly meant to serve the majority, but the fringes and minorities make up a goodly chunk of "the people" and democracy (by merit of its very name) is intended to empower "the people".
   
   Don't take that as my support for democracy though - I do think it is a fundamentally broken concept. Strong, centralized authority in the hands of a benevolent dictator is the most stable form of government. UwU
