What age are you even thinking of? A lot of the people here either grew up without internet or with dial-up. They played outside as kids. The 90s/early 2000s - the formative years of the lives of pretty much every poster here - weren't drenched in glowing rectangles like modern life. Shit, even most modern parents think letting their kids spend too much time staring at a screen is bad and send them outside to play.
The kind of parenting you describe probably won't be affecting people the age of the average poster here until 40 years after you're dead.

This is a good move. My ex cucked me by texting another one of my friends while we were all literally in the same room so I fucked a bunch of older dudes for revenge. ^_^ -

2017-09-18 at 6:04 PM UTC in What are your favorite turn based RPG games?I know you said Fallout wasn't what you wanted, but pretty much everything I wanna recommend kinda falls into that category of old school RPGs. Fallout 1 & 2, Baldur's Gate, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. Tyranny is pretty good but it's (sort of) real-time... and more recent.
Best recommendations I can give are Shadowrun Returns, Shadowrun: Dragonfall, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong but even these are kind of old school, isometric stuff.
Try other games from the same developer and see if they're any good? D: -

I mean... having been around totse for the last 10+ years I've known of enough people who OD'd and died to make the association. More than those who shot themselves, even. I associate opiates with death and pleasure, not necessarily in that order. And after I accidentally OD'd on some weird opioid shit and etiz, something like that would definitely be my method of choice.
I suppose that's a fair explanation though. I don't know, death is death (to me anyway) and really... I don't crave a violent one. If I was going for something violent I'd want like... an explosive helmet. Or a nuke to go off in my face. I've seen videos of people shooting themselves man, it's not the way anyone should go out. -

I mean... why do you think "loading a gun, putting it to your head, and pulling the trigger" would be considerably less involved than "loading a needle, putting it to your vein, and pushing the plunger"? Eh. A gram of H or a few mg of fent is generally more effective than a similar amount of lead would be. Especially if you're already on benzos.
Also this begs the question: why do you trust yourself around benzos? -

This topic is for the crazy people with guns. Never been psychotic before? Topic not for you. Well, unless you speculate which is fine. Other than that, what are you idiots trying to argue?
Your itty bitty insecurities? *sigh*
Ok.
Originally posted by HTS Also: if I had a gun I'd be too busy shooting it at other things to shoot myself. At least that's what I like to think. To be honest if I had one I'd probably be dead though.

You're welcome.
Also pretty ironic you're talking about insecurities when you're literally so insecure about guns that you can't even trust yourself around one and decided to make a thread about that... -

It's almost like discussing the things that we all think about helps us gain different perspectives on ideas that don't necessarily have concrete answers and better form conclusions and support our beliefs or something. What a waste of time. -

Originally posted by 霍比特人说中文不好 It isn't misleading if you aren't an idiot. Tell me, how many people in these gangs do you think are getting legal guns? In these areas guns are easy to get, and instead of machetes they use guns because you don't bring a machete to a gun fight. There is nothing about culture to it at all, it's just the best killing tool available to the common man.
Exactly. And any America with the same culture as it has now would view whatever tool that was as a God given right; the tool to defend the meek and their inheritance of the Earth; the tool that is almost a responsibility for any American to own: to defend their nation, their families, their rights, their property, and themselves. I'm saying you could remove guns from the country and still have an America with vastly exaggerated violent crime and homicide rates because this idea of violently defending yourselves from all forms of tyranny, and righteous violence against those who've wronged you (see: the founding of your glorious nation) is a core tenet of American society. As is the pursuit of money by any means necessary, which in a society built on this obsession leads to a lot of people using their "tool" for shady things to make money.
I'm saying America has a particular cultural identity that breeds subcultures who idolize whatever tool happens to fill the niche of "best killing tool" for various reasons, be they moral/financial/protective/defensive etc. You could take America out of the world entirely and give all their guns (and more!) to India and not have the same problem. Because the problem isn't the availability of guns or even necessarily population density or urbanization.
I'd also say that I don't think it's even a particularly bad thing that America is the way it is: it's almost admirable, really. Freedom comes at a cost. Americans would always keep and bear arms - the best they are allowed. And restricting civilians from access to the means of defending themselves from oppression is rightfully seen as a stepping stone on the road to tyranny.~ -

Originally posted by 霍比特人说中文不好 Yeah, and Canada also has 10x less people and a much larger rural population per capita. Things are kind of different when you're dealing with moose and bears. This is why the gun ownership in Alaska is way higher than the rest of the country and similarly has less gun violence. It's not about "gun culture." That's almost as stupid as that rape culture bullshit. If Canada had cities half as big as America, without all the socialism shit (which contributes to fighting the poverty/crime relationship) you'd have all the same violence.
I didn't say it was about gun culture, I said it was about American culture and tangentially its obsession with guns. Gang violence and ghetto culture would probably still go down with machetes in America if y'all worshipped the machete like you worship the divine firearm. Gun culture is about the only culture in America that actually treats guns with any measure of responsibility.
And if it's not about the number of guns, and it's about the specifics of American population density and distribution, then you probably shouldn't say misleading things like:
Originally posted by 霍比特人说中文不好 Also the risks of guns being available are clear, don't lie. You think EVERY government is lying?
Because what do their statistics matter if its so dependent on other factors that aren't being controlled for by your "availability of guns" argument?
