I can't believe I'm arguing a flavor of ree will vs determinism in a thread where I started off shitposting about giving indians back their land. And I can't believe I'm arguing in favor of free will. 😂

This is fucking stupid. I admit defeat or whatever. I believe everything is deterministic and the inevitable result of the starting conditions of the universe. I can't think of any more potential counterarguments. And I'm bored.

Yeah, what part of nature dictate's what man willed in this case? It wasn't hunger... a desire for a strong family unit... it wasn't for protection, or to serve one of man's needs.

What part of nature? Again, you're using nature almost religiously, as though nature itself were god.

Yeah I elucidated a bit on that - if the decision to breed those dogs was "nature", what part of nature? What natural inclination drove men to take a tool and turn it into a joke? You seem to use nature the way bible thumpers use god.

So they bred because they couldn't resist their natural urges (being dogs, and all), but who they bred with was chosen by humans. Do you think mommy dog and daddy dog would have bred or even survived to breed without the owners? What reason according to nature did the owners have to select for a dog that was useless?

Then what separates belief from knowledge? Can a belief not just be something you're pretty sure is true? How do you even breathe, being this fucking dense?

The chihuahua is a product of nature? Tell me, how so? Because it seems to me a human creation, brought about by selective breeding to achieve an end result that was separate from what "nature" intended for canis lupus familiaris.

Yes skepticism, a man made construct set to serve a human agenda…still needs evidence to be considered realistic…otherwise it's just fantasy.

…and again nature doesn't care about such petty little things and the fantasies of man.

Skepticism means questioning your beliefs. You may turn up answers that confirm your beliefs in the process, but you don't need evidence to the contrary to have doubt in the first place.

    PS: evidence to the contrary...

There needn't be. It's called skepticism. Maybe you've heard of it?

There's the disconnect. You're a zealot. You can't even fathom doubting that proposition.

So you would embrace slavery. Pathetic. "I could do whatever I want, but that's not what massa intended."

All I see is you clinging to nature because you're either too weak to resist it or too shitty of a person to act morally and need some kind of justification, however poor, to excuse yourself.

If we're all a product of nature then the ability to resist nature is what nature intended. You're just unevolved. Lol.

Again, we have freedom from nature. You could make the argument that the drive to survive/self-preservation is natural, of course, but:

"I'm going to be eliminated by this 4 mile wide asteroid about to impact with the Earth! I don't care. Fuck life."

Is just as human. And unnatural.

We have the capacity within us to overcome such base instincts also. "It's natural" is not justification. Rape is natural, but it's not okay. 🤔

We are a product of natural selection no longer a slave to nature. We are capable of artifical selection. Human selection. That is the gift with which we have been bestowed, the fire we have stolen from the gods. And you would smother it to excuse your own bestial behavior. It's pathetic.

    NATURE WORKING AS INTENDED.

Part of humanity's nature is freedom from the laws of nature. This has been known since biblical times - humans were given free will. Appeals to nature are a poor justification for human behavior. Killing is natural but it doesn't justify murder. Nature is cruel and immoral, that's why it's okay for Humans to conquer it. Humans are a force of will intended to surpass all other Creation.~

Native Americans reclaimed the Americas from nature. They homesteaded a land barren of humans, and Europeans came to steal it. The geopolitical reality may be that they have no chance of reclaiming their land, but it should be decolonized as much as possible. Waitu piggu go home.

Agreed. White people should leave America and return the land to the Native Americans they stole it from. Even then the United States can't truly decolonize itself because Europeans destroyed America's culture and heritage.
