Get a gym pass, get a hair cut, dress better etc even if you're ugly simply being in shape and dressing nicely can improve your appearance.
I've been doing HRT for like 2 and half years. See... I spent like the entire time from 17 (when I learned about transitioning) to 25 (when I actually started) doing that kind of thing though. Trying to "make the best of what I had". Trying to make myself into an attractive young man. You know? I even had moderate success. I managed to get with a couple of girls despite being a totally autistic shut-in NEET wastoid, so I couldn't have been that ugly. I'd have fucked me, probably. *sigh*
I'm not doing this because I "failed as a man" or whatever. I was never a top-tier beta dude (and no amount of training would make me one let's be real), but I had more success than a lot of guys out there. More success than a lot of guys who by all rights should have been doing better than me.

Yeah, people have called me "truscum" before for having the audacity to imply that some degree of gender dysphoria is probably a valid prerequisite to being trans. I wouldn't say I experienced crippling dysphoria, but it's like... the difference between tolerance and acceptance, you know? My body didn't necessarily lead to abject misery, but it was a burden. I used to get indistinct pangs of anxiety when I caught my reflection. I avoided mirrors for most of my adult life. I don't exactly seek out my reflection these days, but I'm way more okay with seeing myself. That's gotta be worth something... -

Ehhh... maybe. I don't think so... but like... I'm willing to admit my motivations aren't entirely "clean" or unburdened by sexuality. It's also not my primary motivator, but eh. This is the kind of thought that haunts me. The kind of thing I spent yeeears thinking about leading up to actually transitioning. I eventually decided my motivations were "pure enough", but maybe I was wrong. -
