   I tried that, I am now using a capsule called CapStar that kills them off the cats but they're still everywhere in my carpets.

As a result it can be contained for years inside vessels made of Iridium or heavier elements. However Iridium is the nost practical and efficient element with which to contain it.
    
    Unfortunately it can also derive the most energy from heavier elements. Energy is used by the Hudge for both movement as well as to increase the rate of decomposition. As a result, if it is not properly contained, the Judge can simply engulf the vessel and hold it within its mass as a long term energy source and now will be able to decompose other things, including vessels, faster.
