Gong Kong:
A yeti who hails from the mountains of Tibet. He was rescued by monks of an ancient temple after his mother was killed by poachers. They took him in and taught him martial arts. His natural beastly power was honed with finesse and control and he quickly became the temple's greatest warrior, then its guardian and symbol.
His job was to strike the gongs for the temple and they gave him bigger and heavier gongs to keep up with his rapidly developing strength. Such was the intensity of his strikes that the gong would ring out over the mountains and make the peaks drop their snow. The hammer he wields to do so has been passed down from ancient Chinese times, forged from metals recovered from a meteor. To give it further heft, he keeps it wrapped to a chain. He can also use the chain to make it a swinging meteor hammer. The chain is also used to augment his monkey like agility, to swing from and climb things, as well as a whip.
Unfortunately his time at the temple was not to end peacefully: one day a prideful cyborg disciple ends up slaughtering the rest of the monks before turning upon the head of the temple, Shao Gong, who fights valiantly but is ultimately defeated by the cyborg.
With his dying breath, he casts an ancient Chinese spell that teleports Gong Kong away for his own protection.
Gong Kong remembers he must not seek revenge, so what he seeks instead is to bring the cyborg to justice.
