I will admit I like a couple of their songs but thats probably due to them being ingrained in my brain since I was a child. But you're right they were the pop band of the time, a lot of people like Legalizespiritualdiscovery will tell you they started psychedelic music but they really didn't they are kind of like what "tame impala" is today but still not as indie.
There are so many other better psyche-rock bands from that time like the 13th floor elevators and the silver apples, while the beatlers were actually limp wristed cum.swappers.
For years I had a disdain towards psychedelic culture due to the stereotyped behavior and bandwagonners that surrounded it.
And I've never liked john lennon he's a piece of shit, though I'm one to talk because I'm considered to be a "wife beater" of sorts but I'm cool now, but the fact of the matter is john lennon wasn't really a "peaceful" guy like he's portrayed as, I even heard a story about where he had yoko ono with him at a party and she (and the other guest) had to listen to him bang some skank in the next room loudly.
check out the silver apples, they kinda started electronic/psyche
and the 13th floor elevators were way more edgy hippie punks than the beatles ever were. The beatles should of called themselves the jedis instead, because thats what they were just like led zeppelin.

I dunno anytime I've been given shrooms they made me trip and I didn't die.. I guess I never really never worried about dying from the people that gave them to me because they would eat them also or they were friends/ people i knew.
I tripped shrooms a bunch of times summer 2016 and I thought it was interesting that the girl giving to me would grind them up and put them in capsules.. I've never seen anyone do that before, I guess maybe that way they can be preserved for longer?
