Yes there is:
1, confirming your observations with verified data on the object
2, spectroscopy (yes you can do it at home relatively simply and cheaply).
A pretty dull object to look at. Here's a photo of Saturn a fellow astronomy chum took a few days ago using the same equipment I own…much prettier than Uranus…or mine.
Its amazing how home astonomy is getting more affordable. Thats an amazing shot. And in the winter when the air is les disturbed on a cold night, you can mount a telescope on a tracker on the roof of your house and view it live on your computer monitor or big sceen tv and rotate it or auto track it. Take desktop snapshots. Takes the fun out of camping out and doing it. Yosemite was a good place but city lights have polluted from the valley -

The third one is from the early 90's. I wasn't expecting much after the second one but this is actually a well written story with a dark atmosphere stalking you throughout the movie and quite a few wtf moments. Its also picking up from the first movie but following the detective instead of the mother and daughter.
The third one is the true sequel imo.
