    so why do home inspectors look for leaking water and or other events occurring. they're able to see through the wall and insulation apparently to see the leaks

    they literally dont see through literally anything that isnt that-wavelength-transparent

    theyre seeing temperature gradients caused by the things they're looking for

    the leaking water examples could be because the water damaged the insulating capability...i have no idea without knowing the situation

    regardless...the imagery detects the different thermal gradients of the SURFACE

    All but one use disposable or replaceable batteries. I no longer purchase electronics with exclusive unique/proprietary batteries. I have thousands of dollars worth of assorted electronics that are useless now. Altho...I have a 2007 cellphone that still works.

    I've been trying to buy everything that is USB-powerable or with common-ish batteries. Even my new camcorder is able to function off of a USB powerbank...even tho it's main battery is a canon-custon.

    right, so, the computer doing the translating needs to detect some difference in wavelength or energy to know to translate the normally non visible source of heat. and you cant see the pipe behind the wall, you will just be able to see an outline of where the pipe is from the heat on the surface of the wall between you and the pipe. sure. if you want to get that technical about it though you arent seeing the wall, either. all you are seeing is the photons reaching your eye from the phone screen.

    yeah but I mean generally speaking, even if they're proprietary batteries you just need to match the voltage and add a connector. standard lithium cell is a nominal 3.7v, 2 cells is 7.4, 3 is 11.1 etc.

    the only time you need to worry about anything is is if your device needs high/rapid discharge cells

    if you're worried about it you can add a voltage regulator but lithium cells are so standard it doesn't matter

    That's the thing...these companies that use proprietary batteries could have the voltages set to who-knows-what. That's why I've started trying to get everything powered by USB battery banks. I have Sony and Canon cameras...a camcorder...light panels...flashlights...all kinds of stuff use this new USB tech.

    That's one thing I like about go-pros...they all use the same battery...AND will feed from a USB

    Fucking fuck canon...they have different batteries across the spectrum, from flashes to different cameras, to accessories, except the pro-grade ones where the flash and camera use the same $200 battery. THEN the batteries need their own chargers. It's a fucking shitshow.

    USB and usb charging port standardization was a china initiative to standardize charging format and equipment.

    and its very "unamerican" to use non individualistic, propriatary format and equipment.

    you havent seen first generation led flashlights from japan that use anything from 6v to 19v and in betweens like 11v, depending on the LED configuration used.

    Depends on the led. Quality ones will still have a shortened lifetime but shit-tier ones will fail

    usually you don't send power directly to an LED, you have a chip control it, the chip takes 5v

    the power delivered to the LED itself isn't constant, they flicker at like 120hz or something to save power and reduce heat wear on the component
