Russians will be delighted. They don't need to brave minefields, tank traps, barbed wire. Don't even need to leave the Russian hightway system or go without 4G internet access. The Ukrainians have delivered themselves into a salient which they can surround and reduce at their leisure. -
2024-08-13 at 4:11 PM UTCI think the plan is to get those soldiers killed. They apparently constituted an elite of the Ukrainian army, and were being held in reserve, which means they were the troops most likely to effect a coup or cause internal problems while not being affected by normal attrition.

that would require zalenskii to be in control of his army.
he does not. -

he does not.
If he makes peace, they can coup him. If he orders them to stand down, they can disobey. OTOH if he orders them to banzai charge moscow, which is basically what he has done, they have no choice but to go and die. -

why though
it doesn't change the situation on the ground; sure it's a PR win but what do they actually, strategically, hope to accomplish?
they've done some damage, but they've also lost huge amounts of manpower and equipment without the supply lines to maintain any kind of occupation. -

i believe a majority of them wanted the fighting to stop to at least to reconstitute if not for permanent peace. -

multiple objectives depending on where you stand.
a- to erode confidence of russians in putin, thus weakening his hands over this smo
b- to gain control of the npp as hostage to ransom the return of ldnr
c- as pre-climax, to develope suspense so that the audiences in the west will want to continue watching the next episode and keep paying their subscription
d- molotov everything -

2024-08-14 at 1:01 AM UTCThe Ukraine Nazis are now changing the entire national "educational" system to make arms training and soldier skills mandatory. Math and history and geography has been now replaced with military industrial complex courses. They need more bodies to feed to the Russians and make dead. All part of the New World Order's world depopulation plan.

interesting article, one of the claims is that the buildup of forces was ignored by elements of the Russian intelligence services to force Putin to respond harshly; that they thought he wasn't taking the Ukraine situation seriously enough. it partially makes sense given the rivalries between the FSB, GRU, SVR etc but it'd take a lot of people agreeing to let a buildup of 12k troops (as given on Russian state TV recently, likely less) go unnoticed, especially considering the toll it'd take on the affected territories. -

Why not? Same as October 7th, the incursion is harmless, but will help galvanise public opinion.
