I try to avoid killing anything, even bugs. I catch them in something and put them outside instead. I feel horrible killing something just cause I don’t want it near me.

since this topic interests me i'd like to add that this condition lies on a spectrum much like the autism spectrum, with varying degrees of severity, and there are various traits/factors that are also on a spectrum within the condition. i believe that the majority of the users here are elevated on the spectrum, and several of them could be elevated enough to be considered clinically psychopathic, but even within this group there is variability.

two members i can think of that were that had pure psychopathic personalities would be proots and unwyred, they were so adept at manipulating people with their mask of normalcy that it became their entire personality. they didn't have any real identity behind the social mask they operated with so there was no "real me" to be found.

This topic interests me as well. I think that there is a spectrum as a well, but i wouldn't call it a psychopathic spectrum, i would argue that at the top of the spectrum you have a clinical psychopath. Besides that i think it would be fair to consider the symptoms associated with psychopathy as being symptoms of an empathy disorder. Now if we consider this condition an empathy disorder we can more easily assign spots on a spectrum. Of course an empathy disorder may just be a co-morbidity with another type of personality disorder. I think it is really hard to just find a person with a "pure" empathy disorder. I'd say what we generally would consider a classical psychopath, say a serial killer, has a constellation of personality disorders and by virtue of being high on the "empathy disorder spectrum" the rest of the constellation gets amplified in a sense.

at the top of the spectrum there's a clinical psychopath but i think if you grouped together hundreds of clinical psychopaths there'd still be some variance in their limited empathetic abilities as well as the other domains. if there are two people with the disorder one might have never felt a real emotion in their entire life, another might basically be a murderer rapist that still has some attachment to their own family members or certain circumstantial morals, but at the same time the guy is still "lol rape" and be totally unempathetic in most ways normal people are. gary ridgway the green river killer teared up in court when one of the victim's father's said "i forgive you for who you are" but was totally unresponsive the rest of the hearing. even in some of the worst of the worst there's some limited capacity for human emotion

That's a good point. I wonder what the cause of these variances is, it brings up the nature/nurture question of personality disorder as well. It's probably a combination of the two, but i would like to know specifics.

Yes on what you said about emotion. I think every human being needs some emotional drivers so as not to be in a constant state of apathy.

But how is killing animals a psychopathic trait? I've only done it for food or to put animals who were sick or old down. I guess I didn't say how I feel about it, so: I don't like doing it. I mean it doesn't bother me too much but I'm no psychopath. I put spiders outside mannn.

Heh, at first it started off as a joke, like Arms Merchant being the Zodiac killer, bun then the evidence of Unwyred actually being a psychopath began to accrue until I was convinced. I remember there was a confession thread close to Zoklet's closure and one of the things he mentioned was abandoning a box of kittens out in the woods along with other horrible shit, possibly having lead to someone's death. That woman's blouse he wore was probably from one of his victims.

I, under all circumstances, will avoid killing anything, fish being a notable exception, and they will always be eaten, ideally by more than one person. I guess also mosquitoes? I don't eat those though. The short of it is these things are alive, and there are plenty of shitty things out there wanting to hurt them already. I've got no reason to be one of them.

    Wasn't unwyred a cop or rent-a-cop?

He was a rent-a-cop at first, then became an actual cop, but quit because he was dissatisfied with it, didn't like ruining a person's day, mostly dull monotonous driving and petty offenses. He was actually training to move up to SWAT, the guys that do raids, but I'm not 100% sure if he went through with it before quitting. I do remember him mentioning meth labs in the area, the danger they posed being part of his justification for the job. I don't know what he did afterward, he may have gone back to being a security guard.

I could definitely kill a person (there are lots of reasons to kill) but as far as an animal, I could only kill one in a survival situation. I don't see anything wrong with it, I just couldn't do it myself. Anyone who hurts or tortures animals is a piece of shit.

I'm very conflicted on the matter and mostly my views are completely mainstream, I am angry when I see abused animals, I feel like shit when I see factory farms, and I eat delicious meats without remorse. It's made me somewhat bitter the way we live our lives completely divorced from any natural order and to cope with this I philosophically devalue all life. Some people take the opposite approach and become vegetarian and activists, I think it's completely futile and almost always completely hypocritical, but aren't we all.

I also don't respect most human life because they are usually morons with belief systems that actively harms humanity (war on drugs as an example). I do still feel bad when you see how it hurts other people though or you can identify with them, but I mean that's just human nature.
