that doesn't even mean anything though really.

Isn't the meaning of that subjective? To you it could be absolutely meaningless, but to someone else it could be very meaningful. I don't think you really have a point.

Right, and conditions that cause you to see a rainbow have an objective existence. But the rainbow itself is a subjective optical illusion.

objectively it's all meaningless. the fact that you interpret some sort of meaning out of it is solely due to your choice to do so. in reality, nothing comes as a consequence of saying "all is one" or whatever, so what value does it have? of course things can be assigned subjective meaning by anyone who chooses to do so but that doesn't mean they actually have reality based consequences.

I think I agree with you that from an objective view, everything is meaningless. But we don't really live in that world, we live in a subjective human world dealing with human problems and assigning human values and meaning to the world. Things like life, death, work, taxes, love, pain... are not meaningless to us, these things have real, objective consequences. And IME recognizing the interconnectedness of everything has real, objective benefits to human life.

Sure, just like how I could say recognizing that things are also separate from each other has real benefits.

So if you agree with me, what's the point in arguing with me about it?

Rainbows are NOT subjective. You can either see them or you're blind.

Think of your reflection in the mirror. Does your reflection EXIST? Sure does. Can you touch it, move it, smell it? No. Just like a rainbow. A non physical thing that still objectively exists otherwise we wouldn't have a name for it. Our reflections aren't real people and rainbows aren't real objects but they are both things that can be seen given the correct circumstances you will see them every single time. Objectively. :)

Colour isn't objective. A rainbow is a colourful arch that appears in the sky. If you and your girlfriend looked at a rainbow together from point A, it would appear to be different to each of you. Subjectively different. If you called your friend who lives at point B and asked him to describe the rainbow, it wouldn't even appear to be in the same location. What's objective about that?
  11. This thread is fucking retarded.

I'd wager that you'd claim nothing is objectively true and have only started this thread so that you could frustrate everybody for four pages.

Because you remind me of my sister.

That's like saying I only subjectively exist because sometimes people can't see me and sometimes people see me from different angles. Hrmph.

You make a good point, but unfortunately for you specifically he's right, and you exist only subjectively. We meant to delete you a few months back but you became too sentient and too entertaining for us to feel anything but bad about that.

If what I am saying is obviously bullshit, than why would it frustrate anyone?

That's like saying there is an infinite quantity of rainbows that exist all around us all the time, but you can only see them when the conditions are just right.

In that you have the personality of a savant toddler on acid.

Yeah who knows? That's not like that though. You're asking if it exists, not if it looks exactly the same to every single person. People seeing things differently doesn't make those things' existences subjective. In fact it really demonstrates the opposite.

Anyway I don't know what definition of 'exist' you're using.
