This is quite literally why America is hated throughout the world, not the mere fact that we are killing people. We take giant shits in the developing world and walk away when it's convenient. I agree we should stop taking giant shits in the developing world, but while there are presently steaming shits sitting there, I don't see how any sane person can justify walking away.

Do you honestly think the US (the west in general really, specifically the UK, France and Germany are big players too) has any interest in cleaning up those shits? Creating chaos (ie. 'opportunities') is a large part of ME foreign policy.

There are no pals in geopolitics, only permanent national interests. And America's permanent national interest is in being a reliable and benevolent hegemon if you play nice.

You're assuming it can act rationally, and it hasn't for almost 30 years
  4. Common De-mominator African Astronaut
I just don't understand why you think pulling out entirely and leaving shit to crumble would be a better alternative.

Simply because those countries under US military occupation are not recovering in any sense of the word.

Whether by design or some limitation of resources, they're being kept in a chaotic stasis that actively prevents them from recovering. Almost 20 years have passed and the situation has not improved - in both Afghanistan and Iraq US power peaked years ago and they've been losing ground, literally and politically ever since.

If they were unable to clean up the mess after almost 20 years, why do you think that they will be able to in the next 20?

Nah bro, US is there stabilizing these places. Like in Libya a while ago [great results!!] and their current actions in syria aren't about balkanizing an enemy they're just protecting minorities and fighting evil terrorists.

It is, and all involved should be behind bars for the next 20 years or longer.

Because in 20 more years 40 years of development will have passed as opposed to 20.

I saw collateral murder too. But the US is the superior alternative to ISIS.

ISIS is just a foreign policy arm of the US.

    What are those graphs?

Not really relevant to anything here, but TIL the only reason the USSR invented the state of the Ukraine was so that they could get an extra seat at the UN

Those are YOY growth numbers. Unless you think Halliburton is literally growing 20% per annum in Afghanistan for example.

The thing is that by not holding those american war criminals accountable they are giving the next foreign war criminal who is prosecuted for the same crime a great defense. They just point out the hypocracy of those doing the prosecuting and use video footage like this to prove their point.

Also perfectly understandable that the children injured in that vehicle would now have grown up wanting to see death to the evil empire of the united states. I for one wouldn't blame them if they were now looking for payback for their murdered father, thats just human nature. I'm pretty sure if it was me I'd be feeling exactly the same way.

Its almost as if installing democracy wasn't actually the real reason behind american invasion.

I think a better policy is to be not creating bullshit excuses for sending troops into a country just so you and your industrialist pals can sell a shit ton of arms and supplies to the military which is then billed to the taxpayer, in the fucking first place.

That policy saves the entire human race a whole load of death, injury, heartache and useful resources which could be used to much better effect.

I don't disagree. It's understandable. And I'm not saying America hasn't done its share of evil and unjustifiable shit. Tue only thing we can do is make better decisions moving forward decision moving forward.
