I'm not even mad about them showing up at the hospital. What I'm upset about is that nobody gave them permission to enter my house. I would've only had to stay in the hospital 4 days at most if they hadn't found that -
2019-06-06 at 9:51 PM UTCThose are the exact words in one of your posts in the mongolvoid thread. Did you write it out? An actual suicide note?
And they will break in on a welfare check. Did your family call them? -

I still don't consider what I did to be attempted suicide
It was more of a "final wishes because I know I'm dying" note, and it was not in an obvious place. Somebody would've had to have been looking around
That part was similar to what I wrote in the mongolvoid -
2019-06-06 at 9:57 PM UTCDid you read the thread I made? I brought up whether it would be suicide or not, to Mq in it. Letting yourself go due to horrible health is one thing, but you certainly weren’t helping the situation😡

And I guess the hospital people saw it as suicide so I got a 72 hour hold
What I can't figure out is, how were they able to get it renewed if I quit saying things like that a couple days in? -
2019-06-06 at 10:04 PM UTCThat’s at the discretion of the psych doc. I’m sure he documented his reasoning. All that shit is highly touchy, there has to be supportive reasoning and lots of documentation.

That's nuts, and something that I would hope wouldn't be permitted here. If you're in hospital you shouldn't have anyone annoying you about bullshit.
In fact I know that here claiming that you're suicidal and checking yourself into a mental hospital is a common way to avoid/delay bill collectors. No one can do anything to you or your assets if you don't have agency, until a court appoints someone to run your affairs for you.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -
2019-06-06 at 10:19 PM UTCBut he didn’t check himself in. He was brought there after the cops broke into his house, I believe. After that it became their business.

Why would you give up agency? Sounds like it'd make more mess than it would solve. -

The cops may have called an ambulance - they didn't transport him I am sure - but I wouldn't regard that as giving them any ongoing powers or even especial interest in the case.
Of course usually the cops have to act as informal social workers as well, so I dunno. I don't think that is really appreciated a lot of the time. -

2019-06-06 at 10:29 PM UTCBut it sounds like they searched his house afterwards. That gave them reason to question him at the hospital. If family called them to do a “welfare check”, then they pretty much had the run of the scene.

2019-06-06 at 10:55 PM UTCOh, I see what you’re getting at. I know when I worked in the ER, and a trauma patient was in, they’d let the cops in. Those were usually gunshot wounds and stabbings, so it is pretty important.
I do know most won’t let the cops in if it may compromise their health. Spiking their blood pressure, causing major shock, etc. I was xraying a guy who was in a motorcycle accident with his girlfriend on back. He was in bad shape, but his girlfriend was in worse shape. She ended up dying, and we couldn’t tell him, they were concerned for his health at the time. -
