the 'worst' one was i was off the coast where shore was only visible if i 'jumped' up out of the water. about 100 yards away from me i started noticing a large field of tiny splashes that looked like little fishes jumping out of the water. i didnt want any part of that party…whatever it was…so i started swimming perpendicular to them as fast as i could but even though i had flippers on they caught up to me like i was standing still. eventually i was completely surrounded by the splashes, which turned out to be mantas, which every once in awhile would come close enough to the surface to be visible. the last thing i needed was to be skewered like steve irwin so i did the cupped-hand slap thing several times and they hauled ass away.
a lot of times when i was waaaay out, where shore was barely visible, dolphins would circle around me at a distance. the closest one ever came was about 75 feet or so.
My adrenaline would have been off the charts... not surprised at all about the dolphins but I am surprised all those mantas made such a concerted effort to follow you and check you out. I suppose it was curiosity...nothing more. -

from what i could tell it was just a coincidence. the water was shit-brown and i couldnt see more than four feet but im guessing they were following a school of whatever they eat and i just happened to be in the way. either that or they thought i was food.
dolphins were the curious ones. they would do a literal circle around me. -
2018-07-22 at 4:01 PM UTCI love when the dolphins swim close to us in the gulf.

manatees are even easier. just run a garden hose into the water...they swim right up to it. however, that is illegal and the marine patrol will arrest/ticket you.
myself, on the other hand, would prefer to shoot them all. theyre evil creatures. -

Makes sense. I hate swimming in water that is not clear. Upps my paranoia level big time. I'm totally comfortable swimming in Clear Water with a good field of vision and good depth perception, however. -

the current nutso episodes consist of views on reality that include fantasy. aliens…NSA…paranoia (she literally videoed her mother yelling at her for being nutso and tried telling me her mother was conspiring to sell her into sex slavery. they generally last from about 30 minutes to an hour then shes back to normal sanity. coo coo.
while she was prescribed vyvanse she would behave like that 24-7

one: the cause of ridiculous 'manatee zone' speed limits where i go boating
two: and most significant and wholly ignored by the 'i do bottom in manatee seks' crowd, the manatees are the single most significant cause for seagrass defoliation, which is the second most significant cause of the assorted rivers/lagoons on the east coast of florida being as badly polluted as they are.
manatees are not an endangered species. they are an invasive species. -

i hate to piddle on your parade...but the deadliest water-borne organisms are the ones you cant see, regardless of the clarity of the water. -
