There was an 87 year old woman who had had it with living. She had buried her oldest, best friend last week. Her husband had passed 13 years earlier. Her children lived out of state and never visited. They might call on Mother's Day…if they didn't have anything better to do. While her health was pretty good for her age, she still was no longer a spring chicken and was on medication for numerous maladies. Her medication made all of her food taste like crap. She was considering how much longer it would be before she required a walker.
Despondent, she got on her computer to look up the easiest, least painful way to commit suicide. She discarded rat poison, hanging, throwing herself off of a bridge or tall building, etc. and settled on suicide by handgun. Luckily, her husband's old military revolver from his service was still loaded and in the bedside table.
The internet article explained that to make sure you got it right, that you should shoot yourself through the heart. It further explained that your heart was located directly behind your left chest.
She slowly took the gun out from the table and held it in her hands for the longest time, gaining the courage needed to actually pull the trigger. She sat in her chair for the longest time, reliving her life in her mind and how she had ended in this place. She placed the gun to her chest and pulled the trigger.
She was admitted to the emergency room with a gunshot wound to her left kneecap.
