2018-02-24 at 11:28 PM UTCBeing a genuine hacker is more like being able to think outside the box. You look at a situation, you assemble all the variables, then you try and think of stuff that those variables might provide that one would not normally expect. So, it's more a state of thoughtfulness and creativity, and even art, you might say, than any kind of mechanical process or scripted nonsense. That's what the real &Temple of the Screaming Electron was all about. Not the wrote and ritual, but the exploration of all that knowledge has to offer. You could be a pioneer, if you wished. And you were surrounded by people who also had the same desire, which made it a formidable force to reckon with in its day.

Are you honestly still trying to convince people you're a "hacker"? -

People always go for that right away, like going for the jugular. But that's not always the smartest approach. Actually, it's probably the least effective approach. Even if you go in, leave no footprints at all, cover whatever tracks you may leave behind, there is still a measurable risk of being discovered and traced. There are many methods to skin a cat, as they say. Direct confrontation is merely one of those methods. I am educated in all methods, but a wise man skins his cats properly. -
