   R Crumb's signature as an artist was his ugly, gritty work. Specially the women, they were almost always thick and ugly. The idea was to be a counterpoint to idealism. Look around you sometime, most people look fucking gross on a daily basis.

   Yeah, and it's from his comic book The Book Of Genesis, it's worth a read if you have any academic interest in christianity. It's really weird. If you've ever read the bible, there is a lot of fucked up shit in it, but how you take it or handwave it is pretty much down to who you are and how you feel about religion. Having it illustrated "faithfully" makes it a lot more "real" and it's an interesting read.

   I'll have a look. I've read parts of the bible but got halfway through the 'X begat Y' wall of heritage or something before I gave up trying to read from the beginning.
