Glocks. Not the best of the best, but reliable, modular, and they sell 'em/have parts, holsters, and other accessories pretty much everywhere. Won't break you financially either.

Can't go wrong with a Glock. Unless it blows up in your hand.

i thought about writing a post on it awhile ago when i was doing it regularly but now i cant be arsed. in a nutshell...

the epoxy/self pour ones...expect to do a few as practice...and prepare yourself to break/chip/bend/fuckup the first few before you actually get one that works and looks good. have a good/accurate thermometer since the temperature is the most important part of the process. dont mix too much or too fast/quickly or youll add bubbles that never come out. i was experimenting with a high-frequency vibrator for the molds but the couple that i did came out the same with or without the vibrator as when i just tapped the mold with a hammer.

the 80% metal ones...use decent bits when milling. that shit from harbor freight wont do it. if all you have is a hand-drill to do the cutting and not a mill...dont waste your time. just buy a 100% lower. make sure you have machinist-grade measuring tools that can make precise markings for precise cutting.

i have seen an 80% lower that was made into a rifle using a hand-drill...by someone who knew absolutely nothing about gunsmithing...and it actually fired...but it was a fucking abortion and an embarrassment to gunsmiths/armorers everywhere.

those are the main points that i can remember.

It can penetrate body armor. How is that a junk caliber?

Because that is its niche and it does that well. Getting through body armor is > lethality than not. But for any soft target with no armor, being really good at penetration isn't super helpful - you want something that creates big wounds, not tiny holes.

And let's be honest - most people aren't shooting through kevlar. So yeah, "junk round" for civilians.

Penetrating body armor is useless when the bullet only makes a 5.7mm hole in its target

And just about any caliber can penetrate body armor if the projectile is sufficiently hardened

This is actually a pretty good reason so i will concede my point.

besides, the standard round isn't armor piercing; the AP rounds aren't available to civilians

Are you sure? I was under the influence that the 5-7 was a fairly specific round and that was the reason it had the heaft so to speak that it would take down kevlar. Dont mean to be that guy but sauce?

Alternative to my primary suggestions I would say chezch out the Jericho 941. It is availible in various cartridges. See if something like that spikes your fancy.

I have seen black-tip ammo marked SS190-BALL for sale on ebay-type sites, so I'm not sure if there's a difference between SS190-DUTY and SS190-BALL
