Hell you have weaknesses too but you don't do say anything about yourself except about how you're better than everyone and how everyone else has problems…

Are you admitting to being a cuckold?

Take Bill Krozby, for example. Do you really think he was nurtured and equipped with the means to become a better person? As though he could simply be a decent human being, by virtue of his intellect? The answer is no, he's fundamentally lacking because of the way he grew up and was taught to live.

So.. the higher the stakes, the more retarded you are for TRYING? Is that what you're saying?

C'mon man. Can you admit that it isn't inherently RETARDED to make a mistake? Even if it's something where the mistake can land you with large consequences, I don't see how it's RETARDED.

    RETARDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your argument started as 'its retarded to get caught.' Now it's more... you're retarded for trying in the first place because of the risk associated with getting caught. I can actually respect that more than 'its retarded to get caught.' Can you at least agree with that?

This is why I have recently started to learn about and realize what I believe to be the truth behind determinism. I think the community values, for whatever reason, your opinion more than obbe's, so it's nice to see someone else ask the questions your asking.

Oh no, we're going to have the agency debate :(

Okay, I can agree that there are societal factors associated with committing crime. Of course there are. And to an extent, everyone is a victim of circumstance in that regard; you grow up in a single parent household with 4 siblings, all living on food stamps and with the shittest schools in the state, yes you are going to be cucked. But ultimately, whatever set of factors lead you to a life of crime or set you up for terrible decision making, shouldn't that be rolled into the umbrella of "stupid"? Do you have to have uncaused agency from outside of time and space to be an idiot?

You can launch the same defence for literally any action. Imagine if somebody kept pouring milk till the glass was full, and then kept pouring it as it spilled out, and pouring, and pouring, till your entire jug of milk was gone, just blankly staring at it like a retard. Was that a stupid thing to do? "But he made the decision to pour your milk out because of all the circumstances that brought him into this position bruh!" Well sure thing, but it's still stupid. He was stupid. He did a stupid thing.

In the same way, regardless of the factors that lead up to getting jailed, which I can sympathise with, they are still stupid for making the decisions they made.

    That was a horrible analogy.

Tell me how, in any aspect, committing a crime that you can likely get away with is the same as pouring milk into a full glass of milk.

I'm saying that the higher the stakes, the more retarded you are for getting caught after making the decision to get into it.

Imagine I decide to do my own electrical work while building a house. I am not certified. I do the work, then a few years down the line, my house burns down because of my shitty electrical work; I would call that a pretty retarded because I should have called an electrician. I made the decision to unnecessarily take a very high risk, and I bungled it. That's failing on two counts

    RETARDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The making of the mistake in a vacuum isn't retarded. It is retarded to do something you really have no business doing, and be bad enough to get fucked while doing it. An electrician who would make the same mistake, is incompetent. A layman who tried to do his own wiring and made the mistake, is retarded.

It's not. I'm not saying it is. The point of the analogy was that when people use the word "stupid", they're not talking about someone being an uncaused agent of absolute free will outside of space and time, who makes a suboptimal decision. They're talking about a person, and all of the things that lead them to this point, as being stupid as a cumulative result.

To be clear, this means that you are retarded to begin with, and the higher the stakes, the more retarded you become for choosing the risk vs the reward?

So... there are certified criminals? I shouldn't have committed a crime until I had the proper training? Like I said, I committed many crimes before I was caught. If I had had the fortunate luck to have stopped before I got caught, was I ever retarded?

So nobody should ever try to become something that they're not? How do you know if 'you really have no business doing' something? I'm trying to understand m8, I really am. It sounds like you're arguing that if you're not a "professional criminal" you shouldn't be doing crime. How the fuck does one become a professional criminal? To be frank, most of the best at any profession, have made the proper mistakes and learned from them in order to become better at their respective profession, and in this case, crime can be a matter of trial and error, learning from mistakes. Retarded crime, to me, is getting caught, and then doing the same crime in the same fashion again.

    "stupid enough to get caught"

I already addressed this. That is dumb.

I can't believe Lanny became a programmer when he was stupid enough to make a programming error. WHAT A RETARD! Is that right?

Because it's "making a mistake" that's entirely avoidable, only you still do it because that's what chaos is like. You could find yourself pouring a gallon of milk onto a table one day because you were busy thinking about some bullshit and you'll feel pretty fucking stupid. If you go out and commit a crime and get arrested you should also feel pretty fucking stupid.

    God knows I do.

Except it's not a mistake until you get caught. That's where the analogy doesn't work.

If I pour milk into a full glass of milk and somehow the glass grows taller and the milk continues to fill it to an even fuller glass of milk, what then?

Pouring the proper amount of milk is like getting away with a crime. It's not the pouring or the crime that's stupid, until it becomes stupid by pouring too much or getting caught.
