It wouldn't be too easy to verify if it had, the US government will likely do the same thing as china with a media coverup/blackout of the truth.
I can't see the US government wasting an opportunity to use this as an excuse to lock(quarantine/disappear) up their enemies either. -

Sometimes you have to read between the lines. Even if they’re not rounding people up involuntarily (which the way I said it was admittedly somewhat hyperbolic, but still not that much a stretch of the imagination) their use of surveillance technology in this manner is inhuman and disgusting. I mean it was bad enough before but this is another level -
