2020-02-13 at 2:09 PM UTCProbably has been mentioned already but I just read China’s using thermal cameras to round up anybody with a fever and using facial recognition to identify anyone they come in contact with to round them up too
-
2020-02-13 at 2:10 PM UTCIf you didn’t have the virus before you definitely will when they throw your ass in quarantine with a bunch of infected people

Lol this is ridiculous. Source or gtfo. China can't afford thermal cameras. It can barely afford the regular ones it has. They're really only in major cities. -

Didn’t realize there’s a paywall. When I clicked it the first time I could see the whole article earlier. It even had actual pics taken by the thermal cameras and shit. Let me see if I can find another source -

In case this one has a paywall too:Artificial intelligence and security camera companies boast that their systems can scan the streets for people with even low-grade fevers, recognize their faces even if they are wearing masks and report them to the authorities.
If a coronavirus patient boards a train, the railway’s “real name” system can provide a list of people sitting nearby.
……
SenseTime, another leading AI firm, said it has built a similar system to be used at building entrances, which can identify people wearing masks, overcoming a weakness of earlier technology. Surveillance camera firm Zhejiang Dahua says it can detect fevers with infrared cameras to an accuracy within 0.3ºC.
In an interview with state news agency Xinhua, Zhu Jiansheng of the China Academy of Railway Sciences explained how technology can help the authorities find people who might be exposed to a confirmed or suspected coronavirus case on a train.
“We will retrieve relevant information about the passenger, including the train number, carriage number and information on passengers who were close to the person, such as people sitting three rows of seats before and after the person," he said.
"We will extract the information and then provide it to relevant epidemic prevention departments." -

In case this one has a paywall too:
You have highly sensationalized this.
You said they're pulling people with fevers off the street to put them in quarantine
In reality what this article is about is a guy who left his house early for a quarantine period and got contacted by the police and his boss because of it. They also have some new thermal cameras but it says nothing about their implementation or anybody being quarantined for having a fever because of it.
Big brothery, yes, but not as bad as you said it was. It isn't some new thing. We already knew they used them to track people. -
2020-02-13 at 7:01 PM UTCInflicted person are tortured to find out where they've really been, then they are liquidated for the public safety.

Yeah you mean the one guy who talked about it, AND requested to stay anonymous for his own safety -

2020-02-13 at 8:17 PM UTCIt's easier for the Chinese government to simply liquidate people who might possibly be infected, rather than spending billions housing and feeding them for weeks or months. Just write them off as a benefit to overall public safety and life continues as normal.
