Kirk is a massive womanizer. He gets violent with them quick, treats them like shit, hits relentlessly on every one he sees even when its dangerous or they're the enemy. He likes to grab them and shake them for literally no reason. When a woman freaks out he's all 'dont let your emotions get the better of you'

His decision making is also ATROCIOUS and Spock constantly has to guide him to the correct, nonviolent, non brash choice. For that matter, Bones and whatever the chief engineer is named, are both really dumb and violent as well. Bones has like bipolar or something because he constantly starts yelling for no reason.

Spock would make a much better captain.

Picard and his entire crew are like perfect in every way. Efficient, rational, strong moral values and dedication to duty, etc.

DS9 is like the western version of star trek. Let us not forget that Sisko literally fucks alternate timeline DAX just to save his wife. He doesn't always do what is moral, but instead what would be best for his people. When he threatens to bomb you, he is ready to bomb you.

Cannot comment on voyager yet but I get the sinking feeling star trek is all downhill from here.
  7. Idk why but i watched through NG 3 times over the course of like a year before starting DS9. Its such a comforting show.

    I hate science fiction.

    I KIND OF like lovecraft.

I'm also just saying that I'm sure theres scifi I like. I just dont like the word. I have watched 3 episodes of star trek. Never watched a star wars film for more than 5 minut4s.

Its more grounded in reality than facing a certain cardinal direction daily so you can kneel down to pray to an imaginary force you've never seen evidence of while ensuring you still face in the correct direction of a big black box in the desert that millions of people travel to every year to walk circles around while occasionally getting trampled.

Star Trek has literally already predicted the future. 2024 Bell riots here we come.

If you’re in a rural area, and you are severely injured, the closest hospital is in podunk Illinois, they cannot handle those types of injuries. You would need to be airlifted to a larger hospital that can immediately take care of your needs. When I worked the trauma room they could have a patient in and on they’re way to surgery within 20 mins if necessary.

Star wars is not science fiction. Science fiction is way cooler. The Gods Themselves by Issac Asimov had ethereal entities from another dimension, colonies on mars, and a zero gravity sex scene, all explained in explicit detail. How it works, the science behind it, etc.

Star wars has laser swords and space ships but they never really explain how any of it works or even talk about any of the cool alien cultures.

I can tell you all about Ferengi and how their women can't leave the home and must be naked at all times. How they sharpen their teeth and have special tools for it. How greedy they are and exactly which rules they follow when conducting business. How they place money above family. Who the grand nagus is. How you are supposed to greet them. How to become the grand nagus. Etc.

Do you know what happens when a warp drive blows up? How can you fix a warp coil? What if it isn't the warp coil? Plasma injector wattt? What is dilithium for? Latinum? What do you do in a jefferies tube? Which causes more damage, a quantum torpedo or a plasma torpedo? How does a plasma conduit failure lead to time travel?

Sci fi goes HARD in the details. Star Wars is just surface shit for drama and cool fights. Star Trek makes you think and presents actual moral quandries outside of 'ur my father wattt???' 'ur my brother whattttttt!' x2 + 'omg he kissed his sister!'

Once you start knowing what's going on in Star Trek and learning about the different races, technology, etc, its pretty awesome.

I just mean, they're death traps.

Bird gets in a plane's engines and you can glide to safety even if you cant fly. Which you probably can considering planes can still fly on a single engine. Not that a bird would kill an engine.

Bird flies in a helicopter rotor and you spin out of control and plummet to the ground. Wind is too heavy? You tip and plummet to the ground. They're very delicate.

They have their uses but Kobe could've definitely had a private plane instead.

I understand your thoughts. I’ve just worked on the medical side of it for a long time.

I read that Kobe had a helicopter because he didn’t want to sit in LA traffic on his way to games. He said he wanted to be fresh for his games. In that case a plane wouldn’t be practical I guess.
