   He and most of the others weren't fighting for political reasons, they mostly just wanted to protect their towns and got swept up from there. He's never really expressed a political view of the conflict and doesn't seem to particularly dislike the US or northeners, though he does give them shit for their accent

   yea, most foot soldiers just want to survive, and when shit hits the fan its better to have a gun than not having one, for most countries without 2nd amendment joining the military is the only way to bear arms.
