Originally posted by Technologist I’m pretty proud of myself, I’m on day 6, and no nicotine withdrawals, after 30 yrs of smoking. Go figure. But that’s not completely my reason for this thread.

My plastic surgeon WILL NOT do my reconstructive breast surgery unless I am smoke free for at least a month. Who TF is he?…….God?, I don’t think so. Who is he to decide which women can have reconstructive breast surgery after a mastectomy? “You’re a smoker? No boob for you!” I call BS. I’m quitting, and doing well, I just think that’s a load of shit.

What about women who can’t quit? What about a women who is so distressed by her cancer, that she can’t quit; she’s too stressed out to do it? “Sorry mam, you have to remain disfigured for life, because you smoke!”

Again I call BS. And trust me, I know what non smokers think of smokers. “They smoke, they must be weak, and dirty, and stinky; just disgusting.” That’s easy thinking to fall into, I’m sure the many doctors do.

I get the irony before ya’ll say anything. I should want to quit since I had cancer. Sure I’ve wanted to quit, but no one likes to be forced into anything.

Oh BTW, he’s going to piss test me 3 times before surgery.

Don’t think it’s right, but I get it. It’s all about blood flow. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, so it inhibits blood flow. Plastic surgery relies heavily on blood flow to rebuild the new tissue. I get it. I just feel bad for women who can’t do it.

Lol she told me doses of 200+ mg had undiscovered benefits as a pain reliever and that she was a pioneer of sorts in the field every time I tried to explain that there was no medicinal benefits to her insane doses.

Maybe groping them will kill the cancer. Did you even think of that?
