I haven't seen much but I should probably watch naruto because people who don't like anime typically think that's objectively the shit. I don't know what anime you've watched, but it sounds like shit. And I don't know who you talked to, but they sound like retards.
Non anime lovers should watch Miyazaki movies like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. I guarantee you'll change your mind about it.
I agree that most is shit but not for the reasons you stated. I think Naruto is utter garbage. Classic shonen anime but just retarded and lame. I remember watching DragonBall z as a kid and getting all pumped up and trying to go super sayian (lol). But as an adult its just juvenile. -

I've heard of spirited away and almost watched it once, I probably will someday. I just read about howls moving castle and learned it's based on a book by Diana Wynne Jones which blew my mind that she's not related to another childrens author named Timothy Wynne Jones. Ok Cynical Cindy, if you think anime is just "Japanese cartoons" you got the wrong idea about anime. If you genuinely dislike the medium that's alright, to each their own but i feel like a lot of people write anime off as 'childish and gay' before they seriously explore what the medium has to offer in terms of story telling and artwork.
