2019-08-18 at 12:53 AM UTCOP have you ever tried to do anything businessey before? It can be hard, there's a lot of going around, stuff to arrange, certs to apply for, etc. Good staff are always hard to find and nearly impossible to keep happy, and there are always things happening like bins not being emptied, the toilets breaking, tills not balancing, etc.
All those problems are surmountable, but don't underestimate the amount of time and head-space having a business can require. -

Yeah, like when you're closing up one night and someone shoots you for the money bag. -

Originally posted by Lanny I think I'm going to open a bar as a semi-retirement plan. A little place, maybe 20 seats. I'll get behind the bar and make the drinks some nights, play the piano for the patrons, hopefully make enough to cover my booze. I think it will be a pretty chill gig, not like there's ever a lack of demand for alcohol.
as a couple other dudes said, go actually work in a bar first. Go work in the upper class whiskey bar as you're describing. Get a feel for what it means to actually be a person that makes that dream of yours come true. -

Pretty sure if you own your own gig you shouldn't put up with the shit you have to deal with as an employee.
That's the whole reason why small businesses can be special, because they get to choose their clientele. -

Yes, but you get a sense for what it is to be that employee, which was the whole point. I own my own business. Electronic repair. I also worked as an employee for another company that did electronic repair (but not to the extent I do). So I have a sense of what it means to be an owner and employee and all the differences in-between. It's important if you want to be relatable to your customers.
