   It can be, depends on the tooth and the dentist.
   
   I had one out when I was 22 and it was agony and agony for 3 months after.
   
   Then I had one out about a year ago and it was fine...took a while and took a lot of injections but other than being uncomfortable it didn't hurt and it healed up pretty quickly without any pain.
