2019-08-12 at 12:53 PM UTCThis is gonna mess with my workout and diet too. All the soft foods i have are sugary yogurt, oatmeal, soup, applesauce etc.
Sugar and salt and more sugar and salt.
Used to be on a diet of broth for weeks after surgery as a kid and this is reminding me of how shit that was. -

Now imagine being American and actually seriously considering the pliers because the extraction is going to cost $3000 without insurance and every dentist keeps sending you to a specialist, of which your insurance only covers fucking two of them and they are over an hour away and only open during weekdays from 8am-4pm which you can't do without taking two trains and going on the return trip bleeding and on who knows what drugs, and also the waiting list is over a month because THEY'RE THE ONLY TWO SPECIALISTS ON THIS PLAN. There are specialists nearby, literally dozens, but you can't go unless you want to pay $3000. And the reason your teeth are like this in the first place is because you couldn't get insurance for years due to a congenital condition and getting denied by insurers or offered only ridiculously high prices you can't afford.
Imagine that and you will be me.
Paying the ~3k and praying to Jesus that my insurance will reimburse me. Even still, I have a fear they aren't going to want to do it after doing the x-ray. They said they might be able to do it same day. Also going to lie to them about the condition in the hopes that they won't deny me and will just pull the fucking thing out.
If this doesn't happen I'm going to buy a ticket to Mexico for the end of this month and stay with my family to get it done. Because somehow it actually works out to be cheaper than just going to the place 10 minutes away.
/rant my tooth fucking hurts. -
2019-08-12 at 3 PM UTCwhy can't you just go to any dental surgeon? they should all be able to do an extraction unless it's actually inside your gum (ie. lying horizontally, not protruding from the gumline at all). the first time it happened to me I went to a chinese woman who I'm not sure was actually a dentist who gave me a shot of lidocaine and literally crowbarred it out. she had her elbow/forearm pressed into the side of my chest like a fulcrum to yank it out, and she ended up pulling it so hard it popped out of my mouth, flew across the room and ended up behind a cupboard.
it cost me $50 cash I think -

My root looks like a crab claw on the xray. Only this tooth, of course. The one tooth i need work on. I guess it's delicate and they wanted to send me to an actual endontist. I've changed dentists 3 times this year already and I'm not sure how many more i can do without my insurance cutting it off.
I wish so bad i could just go to any doctor i wanted. It would make life A LOT easier. Would have probably been able to save the tooth. All this hassle has essentially dissuaded me from pursuing help once the tooth stopped stabbing with pain, despite actually trying to get it fixed.
Now its hurting again. I don't think my gum is infected but the cavity is down to the root. After this weekend of pain I figured I'd just pay for it myself.
My fucking god I hope Sanders or Warren wins in 2020 so we can get nationalized Healthcare. The 30% of the country who still don't support a NHS are completely and utterly retarded. I'd probably still have this tooth if i wasn't being ping ponged to specialists an hour and a half away.
If this dentist doesn't want to do it I don't know what I'll do. I guess buy a plane ticket. They seemed okay with it over the phone after i explained the complication but who knows. A specialist is gonna be quite a bit more.
I am so tired of this. Fuck teeth. Good god I wish I had a Chinese lady who'd yank it for 50 bucks. -

Lol
OP should call Roshambo, Drugged Dental Specialist -
2019-08-12 at 3:47 PM UTCI'd doubt you'll get real public healthcare regardless of who wins, insurance companies are too deeply entrenched

2019-08-12 at 3:48 PM UTCRoshmabo texts us pictures of the home dental surgery he does on himself like literally everyday. He says all the time that he spent the whole day cutting his teeth up, and I don't even understand what he's trying to do. He's seriously getting pretty good at it though, his surgery times have drastically improved over the months
-
2019-08-12 at 3:50 PM UTCI'd like to be there if he ever goes to a real dentist and they see what he's done

It's gonna be expansion of Obamacare if anything, which was only approved by like 1 senate vote and one supreme court vote by a really bullshit rationality. There's no way berniecare or similar system is getting implemented even if he wins and dems win senate probably (maybe if dems win senate actually. -

2019-08-12 at 3:53 PM UTCDo you remember the reason why the republicans voted to promise to repeal obamacare like 17 times in a row? Like what the purpose of that?

because bongo bad
'obamacare' is functionally the same as what republicans tried to pass as 'heritage healthcare' or something a while back - negotiating low-price bulk contracts with insurance providers and making them mandatory -
2019-08-12 at 4:07 PM UTCI would probably be dead if Obama health care didn't exist. not because of the healthcare itself I could get. but rather the law he passed where no hospital could refuse someone with 0 health insurance as they were doing up until a few years ago.
I had pneumonia bad and between 2 insurance plans with 2 months down time just as it hit. I got it near mid spring waiting for this shit to kick in. they wouldn't see me at first but I had desaturated to 89 percent and it was getting worst.
so much for the Hippocratic oath.
