I was researching it because El Chapo just got sent there and it seems like you either get put it one of two blocks. One is for the people that are allowed to eat lunch in a communal area and the other is the special administrative solitary which is where all the violent people and high profile criminals are sent.
You are supposed to do the solitary for a year to show them you are not violent and crazy and then they move you into the less restrictive section where you can interact with other inmates. But they keep the high profile prisoners in solitary permanently it seems.
Looks like hell. There is TV but it only shows religious and educational programming lololol
but when a guy has an on-going case in a new york court then he has to be kept nearby. its far too impractical to ship a prisoner from colorado to new york every time he has to attend court.

Okay but they should have better security to make sure this never happens. This is one of the most high profile cases going on in the US right now, and they just supposedly let him hang himself?? -

America has lots of prison systems as well. ADX is a federal prison, whereas people awaiting trial will generally be kept in a local district jail.
But Sophie is right about more security having been advisable, similar to a high profile witness. -
2019-08-11 at 3:15 PM UTCif a prisoner is really hell bent on an heroing while in jail then its always possible no matter how much he's watched. barr having a screw literally next to him in his cell 24/7, and even then a really determined individual would still find a way. but prolly not by hanging yourself. a suicide watch cell has literally nothing to tie a rope to to hang yourself from anyway.

He wasn't on suicide watch, for some reason. I wonder... -

2019-08-11 at 3:24 PM UTCWatching someone 24/7 is not uncommon in healthcare.
Of course with Epstein even the CCTV camera was "broken". -
2019-08-11 at 3:41 PM UTCas someone who has likely spent more time incarcerated than anyone else here I can safely say "the camera wasn't on" is code for "you're not getting that footage and there s nothing you can do about it" they did something they shouldn't have and they had enough foresight to change the tape
however, there are obviously a ton of cameras. There would be cameras outside his cell as well to record anyone entering. A camera not working isn't really an excuse unless every camera in the jail stopped working at that time but then you're basically admitting to compliance with whatever happened or at least willful blindness -

2019-08-11 at 3:47 PM UTCIt's not the amount that's important here, if you weren't retarded you would understand that

Wackenhutt/G4/whatever they call themselves now spend significantly more and have a lot of lobbying power considering they're owned/backed by the Kochs -

2019-08-11 at 3:52 PM UTCTHE POINT IS THEIR BUSINESS IS LOCKING UP AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE
which is why prisons are too busy dealing with Angry Tyrone who is locked up for an eighth of marijuana and forget to check on Mr. Epstein
