Get a used PS2 that is compatible with Freemcboot, then you can play pirated games.
I still have my second PS2 (the laser in my original 2001 ps2 went out on me) from 2006, the slim model.
Playing a PS2 on a CRT TV is such a comforting feeling, it teleports me back to the years 2000 - 2006.

running games using original parameters is usually fine, it's only when you try to upscale to 1080p or run anti aliasing enhancements and shit that you start having trouble
that is assuming your computer is powerful enough to run ps2 games smoothly, though most should be nowadays even without a dedicated gpu

I have a Kirby Puckett rookie card from 1984 that I got from an OLD SCHOOL CARD TRADE when i was 9 years old. I gave a Marshall Faulk hologram card for it. At the time, the Kirby card was worth 20 dollars. Now its like 8 dollars.

In a sane and rational world Sony would still offer technical service to PS2 owners, so that when you need a new laser they would fix it for you (without tricking you and giving you a refurbished PS2 instead of yours).
There would still be companies designing CRT TVs, because there will always be people with an interest in that type of technology.
