it's impossible to seriously argue that a wall wouldn't make a significant difference to illegal immigration, but the cost vs benefit is questionable. the retarded 'smart wall' rhetoric even moreso
What's the smart wall? a wall with cameras? -
2019-07-09 at 2:10 PM UTCThe US military industrial complex pilfers almost ONE TRILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR to fight senseless wars on behalf of the fossil fuel companies and not a one of these ultimate morons bats an eyelash, but ask for a 6,000th of that to secure their own border from foreign murders, rapists, drug/child traffickers and sworn-terrorists, and they're all bent out of shape and fuming mad about the unholy "expense". Seriously, these people are literally mentally retarded. There's no debating, no reasoning, no arguing with a literal mental retard who doesn't have the intellectual capacity to even understand what two plus two is, let alone the security of the country and its populations. You may as well be conversing with, say, a tree stump, or a bag of rocks.

Isn't it the Democrats that are opposed to the wall, and not the military industrial complex? You mix lies with truth...so sometimes I don't know what to believe. -

The point is the expense to the taxpayer of the failed invasions in Libya, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and all the rest total in the tens of trillions of dollars, and not a one of these born dummies so much as says boo about it, but they cry foul when someone tries to spend a 60,000th of that amount to keep terrorists, rapists, child traffickers, thieves and dangerous illegal felons out of their own communities. You can't get any more stupid and hypocritical than that kind of idiotic selective outrage. -
2019-07-09 at 2:29 PM UTCAmericans have no interest in not policing the world, there is too much money in it. I honestly believe that's the only reason there has been perpetual war and they keep trying to start shit in the wes clark 7, wes clark 5 now.

2019-07-09 at 2:30 PM UTCThe smart wall proposals would be far better economically. But saying piss is better than shit doesn't make either of them good. It's just a dumb compromise idea that is being floated so everybody walks away unhappy but able to blame the other side of the aisle for blocking the real wall/burning billions on an unnecessary system.
We don't need any sort of border wall in the first place. -

Of course we don't need it... the point of the discussion is that it's in our best interests to have it. -

Said it before and I'll say it again: Almost nobody enters through the unprotected border. It is very easy to get a visa and arrive legally, then stay illegally or get a green card and stay legally. More stringent green card laws would do way more than a shitty wall. I don't know a single person who has ever crossed illegally. Everybody just goes through the guarded border because they don't want to spend days hiking through the desert and a 6mo visa is super easy to get.
Only the most desperate South Americans cross this way. And drug mules. I have only met one person who claimed to cross through the unguarded border and his family got deported and had to return with visas and get their green cards the correct way before they could stay. Illegal immigration is at a low right now, and has been going steadily down since 2007.

Yet all you right wing nuts choose to ignore this and continue to believe a wall would be effective at stopping a majority when only a minority of people even cross that way. Forget the fact that they'll just climb over/under/destroy the wall. Forget the private land on the border that could not be walled off. Forget everything because we hate brown people and chose to ignore the hard evidence that a wall would be ineffective. -

not a wall really, just heavier reliance on drones, sensors etc. democrats only call it a 'wall' as a way to equate it to direct competition with Trump's plans for a wall.
The main problem I see with that is it makes border control a more offensive organisation than it already is, and we've already seen how that goes with the police and virtually every other betabet agency. -

2019-07-09 at 3 PM UTCIt has to be everything, dummy. Border wall, border patrol, policy, policing, enforcement, processing, etc.. Securing the border properly is not just one thing, like a simple born idiot would think.

Up next: AI drones patrolling over major cities with facial recognition systems looking for people on overstayed visas. -

2019-07-09 at 3:35 PM UTCShort term vs long term.
Short term it's expensive, long term it will pay for itself, again 6 billion < 1 week of welfare, Many illegals and their offspring get welfare either directly or indirectly...then there is the cost to the health system and every paying member when they get health care they don't pay for.
