We're talking about circuitry and resistance. Take a multimeter and set it to measure resistance, just hold the leads in the air and look at what the reading says. -

yes but in this context the aforementioned 'resistance' refers to the average resistance in a mic circuit.
ie; in the kilo ohm range that sets the difference between something plugged in and not. -

Resistance refers to the concept of resistance. Not a particular application of it. The effect is the same whether applied through circuitry or the air. -
