   We're talking about circuitry and resistance. Take a multimeter and set it to measure resistance, just hold the leads in the air and look at what the reading says.

   yes but in this context the aforementioned 'resistance' refers to the average resistance in a mic circuit.
   
   ie; in the kilo ohm range that sets the difference between something plugged in and not.
