2019-05-01 at 2:10 AM UTCMy laptop has 3840x2160, 16gb ram, 1TB, GeForce 940MX Rendering, Intel UHD 620 GPU, and i7 8th gen quad (8) core for $900 AFTER taxes and overnight shipping. Amazon fucked up and I got my shipping refunded tho, kek.
Of course, it was refurbished and the clock speed is a bit deceptive. I just learned this afternoon that although my i7's official clock speed is 1.8GHz, which is slower than my $600 laptop from high school, it uses a technology called Intel Turbo Boost, which means the CPU will speed up as necessary up to 4.0GHz as long as it doesn't cause the computer to overheat. I was wondering how they were trying to pass off a 1.8GHz as an i7. -

well at least his inner desire to be a consuming drone will be quenched. -

There are mobile i7 chips and then there is the desktop i7.
Macbooks have mobile i7s which start at 1xghz.
Personally I would go with the m3 since I could run the macbook off a portable battery (the type you use to charge your phone).
Idk if I'm going with a macbook though I'll probably just setting for a recent iMac with the 4k retina screen. -

16gb is totally overkill.
1tb - who uses a hard drive in 2019
"5th gen i7" Macbooks have the latest 8th gen cpus, if you were to compare them it would be like a Compaq desktop from 1998 and an iMac from 2019.
For real though it's just very underwhelming and outdated for $900, you should have gone with a Macbook or a Lenovo thinkpad made for mobile use. -
2019-05-01 at 2:22 AM UTCwhat is better about the mac's specs than my 900 dollar tax included computer? literally is there ANY spec?
I admit that the new mac pro looks pretty sweet.
Its 8th gen i mistyped
Its a lenovo flex 5, its touchscreen and foldable all the way -

Well you won't find a laptop from apple for that cheap but there is this:

check out that clock speed -
2019-05-01 at 2:25 AM UTCyeah, so mines a touchscreen folds all the way until its a tablet laptop that goes up to 4ghz...

It doesn't "go up to 4ghz" unless a program is built for that specific function and even then it'll only last a brief moment then go back down to cool off
the base clock speed is far more important than what it can be throttled to
also touchscreens are stupid and folding is completely pointless -

Its called Intel Turbo Boost. It does it automatically, I don't have to turn it, it does it straight out of the box.
I agree about the folding though. I never use it, and it makes the whole thing kind of flimsier which scares me a bit.
However, the touchscreen is useful for me because I use it to draw diagrams and such when I'm taking notes during lecture. But that's about it. -

2019-05-01 at 2:39 AM UTCThe thing about macs that really grinds me gears besides the gross overpricing and being behind techwise more than a couple years, is the gay ass minimalist style of macOS. It appeals mainly to millenials, children and old people because "It just works".
Yeah, it's a pretty good product, but as long as you know how to operate windows 10 (Oh my god its soooo haaaard!!!) it doesn't make sense to buy the lackluster product that;s generally more restricted at a premium price. -
