I mean if you had 100% less crime, wouldn't you have no crime?
Yeah that was bad statistics on my part.
Kinda.
I meant, we should reduce the occurrence of crime to such a degree that it actually results in LESS OF A CHANCE of even the most pacifistic person committing an act of violence.
I guess it's technically closer to 99.9999%.
90000000000% is pretty nonsensical. -
2019-03-05 at 12:31 PM UTCBut if crime fell by 50% then you can say crime is down 100%. It all depends what you use as your base - the old level or the new level.

The government could actually do this in like 2 seconds if they just changed the laws. -
2019-03-05 at 1:40 PM UTCSo tell me how these knife laws work? Are they like gun laws in the US?
Do you have concealed carry? Can you carry a knife at all? What if you have a steak knife on ya? -

Look at this confused faggot.
What laws? What protection? The police are there to protect the government, not you. Cops only show up after a crime happened so they can document it.
What knife laws? I've lived in countries where carrying knives is illegal. Everyone still carried them. -
2019-03-05 at 1:47 PM UTCI only asked a question because I haven’t a clue how it works. I don’t care if people carry illegally. I’m genuinely curious about these laws. Sorry I’m not hard core.

Basically in the UK you aren't allowed to have a knife on you in public unless you can demonstrate good reason. -
2019-03-05 at 1:49 PM UTCThanks Soi!
What would be a good reason? What are the punishments for being caught with a knife in you? -

typically needing it for work or whatever; ie. a construction worker won't generally get in trouble for carrying a retractable razor or something. It's really up to police discretion though so it often depends on whether they think you look like a 'troublemaker'. I'd probably get a fine if I were caught carrying even a leatherman, but I don't really see why you'd be caught in the first place unless you actually tried to use it as a weapon or tried to take it into an airport or parliament or something.
I'm from Australia and our laws are fairly similar but I believe they're pursued more aggressively in Europe because they have more knife-related crime and are too afraid to go after the root causes. -
2019-03-05 at 3:32 PM UTCAs an aside, a knife is not a good self defence weapon so I don't recommend carrying one for that purpose.

2019-03-05 at 3:34 PM UTCI once was searched by customs in France, but I just showed them my folding knife (CRKT M16) calmly and they must have assumed it was a lighter or something. Pretty sure I would have got it confiscated at the very least.
I feel safer with a knife at least. I would love to get one that doesn't set off detectors.
