There's is a flimsy atmosphere about 0.1 of a percentage point the density of earth there and guess what it's made out of carbon dioxide. Also, what's it drinking? If there is water on mars it's frozen and deep underground. Also, what's it eating? Rocks?
Basic biological principles call this artice bullshit, as does the fact they don't provide a source. -

to me it looks like one of those Lion Gate thingies where there is a lions face on a gate with the knocker thingies underneath
but how large is it? it's clearly something that needs to be taken up close and during a different time of the day so that the shadow directions don't give the same impression.
So put your little rover back into gear and drive over to it, up close and show us wtf it is. -
