I have grown all those except for orange and it's even cheaper.
You can get about 50lbs of potato for $10 worth of seed with a few rows. -

it has to do with the "Modern" farming techniques nearly 100 years ago.. they were doing it wrong and now top soil is a huge commodity.
if it wasn't for the dust storm and the over salting of soil and making it brick hard.. we wouldn't have this dilemma. -
