submarines are actually pretty easy to set up, planes are a real fucking challenge because yeah, PID controllers. god I must have spent like two hours watching videos about that shit. really goes to show just how fucking hard it is to get something to just fly in a straight line. -

Check out the game and give the devs some money, they deserve it.

That sounds like an interesting project.
I think you need to be prepared to deal with crashes and damage as you iterate your design. You could use cheap and replaceable components. -
2018-11-30 at 12:36 PM UTCIt'd actually be fairly straightforward to build one; there are kits and parts lists available - frame, motors, ESC, wireless transceiver, autopilot/AI module... I was interested in doing it from scratch though, ie. writing my own software/firmware for it which would be risky in terms of the costs associated if I were to screw up.
And that's the problem - components are all fairly modular and replacable, but absolutely not cheap -

Writing a firmware to behave like you want would take a long time. I can imagine making control circuits using something like an arduino or ESP32 would wind up being fairly heavy too, as you have to deal with fairly high currents so need individual relays. Some people make DIY segways out of old parts, that might be an interesting project too. -

I certainly had a very low bar for the game, I didn't think it would be completely unplayable. It's basically a FO4 reskin but it doesn't run half as well as FO4. how do you fuck things up so bad? how do you not source canvas bags? how are they so fucking retarded?
nevermind, don't answer that, I've seen the kind of people that work at game companies.
