Now about it being used to control your moods and sway your opinions, these are definitely feasible with current technology, but I'd say it's open to debate as to whether or not such malicious usage is occurring, or even going to occur.
So basically, all I'm saying is to be informed and educated on how AI works and can be used to manipulate you, but don't start jumping to any conclusions about conspiracies and so forth.

I'll admit I'm not all that surprised.
It is kind of a good way to gather data for psychology experiments.
Heck, I can't say I wouldn't be tempted to use such methodology myself if I were still in academia.
But there are definite ethical issues with it.
And also, while it might not be all that comforting to most, this example study was carried out with the sole intent of conducting objective research, not for marketing or political influence. -

Actually yeah, if they are using news feeds to influence moods, and measuring that, then political bias is almost certainly going to taint the results and any chance at true objectivity.
But the method has really cool potential.
I mean, show people sunsets, beaches, puppies, kittens, and other things that people generally find pleasant, and then in the other group show them funerals, spiders, snakes, rain, and other things that people generally find unpleasant.
Then see if you get the same effect.
However, it would probably be a stronger effect when it comes to news, because human beings have a tendency to get riled up over political stuff. -

That kind of subtle manipulation from biased news corporations doesn't really surprise me.
Either way, I'm not really one to follow the MSM (Main Stream Media?).
There will always be bias, both implicit and explicit.
You really have to train yourself in critical thinking and logical fallacies if you want to effectively interpret any news source. -

there are several. For one, they don't monitor their own employees who might sell info if asked by a friend or in the dark sector of society. shit they can't see because it's "Friends restricted". It's like there are ways around to gathering or using your photo to take photos of private data
then there is the selling to corporations who use it to sell products including those background checkers.
