I have to ask things many times and redo them over and over. it's difficult to keep Jobs with short probationary periods but when I catch on, I really am a great employee and work hard. gives you a sense of being. -
2018-11-28 at 4:08 AM UTCThe morons at Facebook IT have been doing maintenance and updates first thing on weekday mornings for the past couple of weeks.

That's Facebook's business. If you honestly believe they give a shit about their users you are mistaken. They got your data whether they provide their service or not. -
2018-11-28 at 4:26 AM UTCI don't really get what data Facebook users are worried about. Private messages? Anything else is easy enough to google. What does Facebook have that other sites don't?

2018-11-28 at 6:20 AM UTCThey even track what you delete when you type something to study self-censorship. "They" (it) know every single habit of every user. How long you view something. What you click and respond to. What and who you ignore. Everything.
It isn't about some dudes knowing your email address, it's about feeding the AI every notion of human interaction. It can control what kind of information gets to you, ghost certain pages and friends and influence your mood by showing you stuff that doesn't interest you. You get bored. It can show you stuff that will engage you in angry debates and piss you off. It can show you horrible news and make you fearful.
The AI will grow and outsmart the brainpower of the entire human species combined soon. -

also do not click on those video clips that youtube 'recomended' for you no mater how much you want to see it.
clicking them will only reaffirm and reinforce youtubes AI's beliefs about you and your preferences.
they are trying to guess what you likes, by clicking the recomended clips, yoir in essence telling them 'yes, your right'. -
2018-11-28 at 11:29 AM UTCI'm sometimes impressed by how slow and shitty Facebook is. I mean this is a $100bn company's main product, and it takes several seconds to load individual pages.

Is that why you click on all the gay videos? To throw YouTube off? -

So while I said that most people who are paranoid about Facebook collecting their data simply have irrational fears, RisiR brings up a good point that pretty much every human citizen should have at least some trepidation about. The kind of machine learning implementation and application that RisiR speaks of is generally considered to be a good thing. And it does have benefits. For example, if the ads you see are more specifically targeted at you, you'll generally be less bothered by ads for things you're into than completely irrelevant ads.
A real-world example of this is Facebook Pixel: https://blog.hootsuite.com/facebook-pixel/. This bit of technology is the reason that you keep seeing ads for things you were recently searching about or shopping for. The more specific the niche, the creepier it will feel.
Now about it being used to control your moods and sway your opinions, these are definitely feasible with current technology, but I'd say it's open to debate as to whether or not such malicious usage is occurring, or even going to occur.
So basically, all I'm saying is to be informed and educated on how AI works and can be used to manipulate you, but don't start jumping to any conclusions about conspiracies and so forth. -
