Wait, did your MIL ever pay rent? I don't know what the law is so if the cops say you have to serve her with an eviction notice then that's probably true but that's retarded that you give a person a place to stay for free and can't toss them out without serving an eviction. Like jesus, if someone broke into your house and stayed the night on the couch would you still need to give them 15 days and file an official document as well?

Yup, even if you let someone stay for free you may still have to go through the eviction process if they don't leave of they're own accord and the authorities become involved. man when I rentedmy homestead in 2011 while i had the townhouse in the city it was pure hell evicting those rednecks. They even had the cops get after me for me making an unschedueld inspection (which is allowed) They were on a month to month so I put up a notce to quit and cited state law and such and they finaly got scred and left in the middle of he night leving most oftheir shit. which i had to haul to the dump. and since i refused to refund their security deposit they placed feeder mice all in the house. It was a fucking wreck when i had to move baxckin. -
