I was catholic, then Lutheran, then evangelical. I was always under the impression as well, that killing yourself was a sin and a straight shot to hell since you couldn't repent or ask for forgiveness.

That's why I preemptively asked for forgiveness for all my future sins. Now that I'm a non-believer, I like to think that just in case I'm wrong that the big G will forgive me in advance cuz ya know, I'm just a stupid fallible human.

Who's to say the will of God wasn't for one to take his or her own life? It's awfully convenient when anyone dies in any type of tragic accident, well 'oh I know I'm so sorry but God has a plan and that was part of the plan' essentially to say that yes, God intentionally caused the car accident that let your girl needlessly suffer in pain for 12 hours while she slowly died, because it's HIS PLAN. He knows. If that's the case, then a simple gunshot to the head shouldn't be outside the realm of possibility to fit into his great big plan.
