its summer here now so the kitchen window is pretty hot most of the day. what kind of soil to use tho? could some normal earth from the garden do it or should i buy some of that stuff in a bag that proper gardeners use?

Yea but once it starts to grow into a real plant it will require more light. If it doesn't get enough it will grow super tall and stretch out too thin. So you'll probably want to get it under stronger light like as soon as it sprouts or its like a couple inches.
You can use regular dirt but anything you use that's fancier may give you better results. One thing that you could do to improve the soil is add perlite or coarse vermiculite to it to air it up a bit more so it drains more easily.

Also if you fertilize it be careful to not give it too much fertilizer too often, because if you use too much the fertilizer can form salts and precipitate out and it stops the plant from absorbing it. I haven't actually reached this point though. I just fertilize mine like every other watering or every third. Whenever I feel like it really. Some weeks I'm more into it than other weeks.
