you can fix that hard time about the average joes mental capacity by doing jury duty just one time. for utter and complete amazement do jury duty multiple times along with grand-jury duty.
then youll never want the average joe having a say-so about anything more complicated than which shoe to stick on which foot. -

The scary part of a trial by jury is that you're being judged by 12 people who either were nor smart enough to get out of it or think the jury pay good money. -

In the US our politicians are corrupt and frequently scientifically illiterate but rarely are they actually stupid at the national level. In fact the sorts of corruption that characterize our political system usually requires a good bit of cunning to carry out. They're generally very well educated as well. I'd say the typical congressman is much more intelligent than the average American. -
