I'd say it's pretty different. We consider a modern philosophical education successful regardless of the philosophical views a student holds at its conclusion. The project is not the discovery or instillation of some viewpoint but rather coming to understand the dialog between one's own ideas and those of others. It's not about looking at things from someone else's viewpoint, it's about understanding where yours exists in the space of possible viewpoints. -
