2018-01-07 at 11:24 PM UTCThe only one where it might be worthwhile is MGS2 where the English version is still funny and stuff but makes no sense whatsoever, and that's supposedly because the translation is retarded and the translator was literally paid less than minimum wage on his contract.
But idk if there is a subtitle option for MGS2. -

MGS3 on a PS2 emulator, MGS: Peace Walker on PSP, MGSV: Ground Zeroes, MGSV: Phantom Pain.
In that order. Then if you want to get into the shitter stuff, MGS: Twin Snakes on Gamecube, MGS2 on PS2, and then hang yourself so you never have to play MGS4. -

2018-01-08 at 4:05 AM UTCYeah I would still recommend just watching a Let's Play of MGS4 for a variety of reasons, but mostly because the cutscenes in the actual game are unskippable, but you can watch them on 1.25x speed on YouTube and get through them faster. There are literally half hour cutscenes in that game, so it is a significant time saver. It is a good game and the gameplay is decent and worth it but the cutscenes are not worth it.

just out of nostalgia i decided to rewatch both version of MGS on youtube the other day becos i cant really remember the reason or the feel i shunned the english version 20years ago ...
and holy shit ....
the voice acting in the english version was utter shit, it was voiced by an assortment of beta males who tried their bets to simulate the voices of betas by artificially lowering their voices ..... physically and electronically ....
and i had this thing on my face that i had no idea what its called 20years ago then .... but now i know.
its called cringing. i was cringing even before it was cool. and MGS the english version was then the best cringe-simulator in 1998,
and it still is now, in 2018. -

Okay so without a doubt the first part is relatively weak compared to part 2/3/4, but it is still good. The manga/show has an incredible sense of style, humour and grit. It's ridiculously entertaining. JoJo's is a lifestyle. -

2018-01-17 at 7:36 AM UTCYeah, I gave JoJo a fair go but it's, uhh, probably not my thing. It's best when bordering on comedy, which admittedly is often, but shit like training sequences and filler destroy the comedic pacing.

Yeah i mean from an anime outsider perspective, all i remember is it felt like Yugio or something for slightly older kids. I just remember a tall, weirdly-proportioned dude with spiky hair and a big gay earring and a 90's chain wallet and a trench coat. And he had a star tattoo on his neck, and his name was Jojo Jostar. And no joke, the same thought that kept coming into my head was "I wonder how many thousands of kids are going to get the fuck beat out of them wearing this exact outfit?"
Also, in summary: YOUR RED FIRE PHAROAH IS NO MATCH FOR MY ROBOTIC BASEBALL PLAYER PUNCHING GUY WITH FISTS MADE OUT OF DIAMONDS!!! -

You have to make it past Phantom Blood for sure, it is the weakest chapter of JoJo. But it's worth.
Idk, maybe it's because I have read the manga as well (and way further ahead), plus I love the classic music references (for example Robert E.O. Speedwagon = REO Speedwagon) and the subtleties of the story, it's very purposefully ridiculous but it has a lot of great undertones.
If you want to give it another go, watch Stardust Crusaders and power through it till they start their journey. -
